Designed for remote outdoor systems and other harsh environments, encapsulated power module is pin- and footprint-compatible with industry standard packages
Bear Power Supplies today announced its BP1 series power supplies in an industry standard, PCB-mountable package. Operating from – 40 to + 70 degrees C, these encapsulated power supplies offer a greater operating temperature range than any other commercial power supply on the market. They are ideal for harsh applications such as outdoor security or industrial manufacturing systems.
The BP1 series package is a drop-in replacement for a number of industry standard commercial power supplies, offering higher performance and reliability at a competitive price. Standard models are available in 5 W, 10 W and 15 W with output voltages of 3.3 V, 5 V, 12 V, 15 V, and 24 V. Input voltage is 90 V to 264 V AC.
Temperature specifications (0 to 95% humidity) are:
– Operating temperature (half load): | -40°C to +70°C |
– Operating temperature (full load): | -40°C to +60°C |
– Storage temperature: | -40°C to +85°C |
Bear Power Supplies incorporate active inrush current limiting, which is effective over the entire operating temperature range, unlike the resistor-based inrush current limiting used in most a commercial power supplies. This results in longer life and fewer nuisance fuse failures. All Bear power supplies include over-voltage protection and are FCC Class B compliant.”Reliable power over this wide temperature range is essential for electronic systems requiring high reliability and long life,” said Peter Growney, global sales manager at Bear. “For example, outdoor security systems are often mounted in hard-to-reach areas, such as on high poles, where the temperature range is extreme and servicing the unit is highly inconvenient. Machines in foundries and manufacturing plants can run extremely hot, and downtime is very expensive. Bear power modules provide long, trouble-free operation in these demanding environments.”The BP1 series power supplies are available from stock, starting as low as $30 each in volume.
