420-Watt AC/DC converter is designed and made in the USA
Bear Power Supplies has received a design contract to create a custom 420-Watt AC/DC power supply for L-3 Communications’ Cincinnati Electronics Division. Among other custom features, the rugged power supply will feature an RS-232 interface for controlling on/off and monitoring temperature and performance. The value of the contract was not disclosed.
L-3’s Cincinnati Electronics designs and produces innovative infrared sensors, hybrid microelectronics and cryogenics for autonomous guidance, situational awareness, threat warning and targeting. The business also designs, develops and produces avionics and communications products for missiles, launch vehicles and spacecraft, and is completing its fifth decade of contributing to the success of US space endeavors.
Bear Power Supplies’ on-shore design and manufacturing capabilities offer significant benefits to L-3 and its customers, particularly in defense and homeland security. Bear’s expertise in custom power supply design and fast turn-around of prototypes were also key in securing this design win.
“We are pleased that L-3 has selected us to contribute to its mission-critical systems,” said Michael Allen, President of BEAR Power Supplies. “We look forward to supporting its need for rugged, reliable custom power supplies designed and made in the USA.”
