Phelps, NY – October 4, 2006 – BEAR Power Supplies (www.bearpwr.com) has tested its standard 15-watt encapsulated AC/DC converter and found it to pass the high-voltage lightning surge tests as defined by the GR-1089 Standard for Telecom Equipment, Section 4.7, “Lightning Criteria for Equipment Interfacing with AC Power Port.”

This test requires that the power supply continue operating during and after application of several 2000-volt surges on the AC power port, and survive a 6000-volt surge without becoming a safety hazard. BEAR encapsulated power modules feature long life and high reliability over a wide -40°C to +70°C operating temperature range, making them ideal for outdoor telecom equipment. Standard models are available from 5 to 30 watts, with universal input (90 to 264 volts AC) and single output from 3.3 to 48 volts. All BEAR models are TUV tested to the EN 6100-4 standard for surges.
